WBCN's original rock program director, Sam Kopper, brings the revlution back with Free Form BCN.
WBCN broadcast its first rock song March 15, 1968. Since then, BCN has dominated the rock n' roll format in Beantown, from early Rock, Blues, R&B, and other Rock siblings, the Woodstock era, 70's classic rock, 80's metal, and 90's grunge. Not a nostalgia trip, Free Form BCN is past, present, and future eclectic Rock-centric music, a free-life outlook, and attitude!
WBCN has featured legendary broadcasters behind its microphones, from Charles Laquidara to Howard Stern. Free Form BCN features some of the best music and moments in Boston Radio over the past 40 years and on into the future.
Hear Free Form BCN at 100.7FM-HD3. Soon Free Form will stream online here at WBCN.com... and on your iPhone or Blackberry.
Let us know what you think of Free Form BCN.

Glad it's now streaming. It'll be great once they get some live DJ's.

It's great to listen to the old BCN with this freeform.
But I wonder that the sound is a little bit to flat and 'dry'. A bit more compression would be nice. What are you using for soundprocessing equipment/software for this stream?

Will you be posting the embedding code for the HD3 online widget? Before the big switch I was streaming 104.1 WBCN on both of my MySpace pages. (instead of the myspace injected music playlist) When it changed, they changed to HD 2. I have the code for HD2, I'll try to post it, but it might turn into the widget, lol.

Copy & paste all of that into your profile and it "should" work.
SWEEEET it worked !!

So is this where I request a tune or two?
I'm hoping this is what Golden Earring finally gets some respect. And no... I'm not looking for Radar Love or Twilight Zone... though they are great tunes. But how about some of their other great stuff? Like, 'Going to the Run', or 'Weekend Love'? A few others... 'Fightin' Windmills', 'Long Blonde Animal' and the great, great 'She Flies on Strange Wings'.
Well, that would be great if you played something. To finish off, this is a great site. Like the way BCN used to be... I'll be listening a lot!
Thanks!

I've been listening when I get home from work the past couple weeks, and I gotta say, this is a great format, keep it up!! Makes me want to buy an HD radio, but other priorities for the near-term.
One of the greatest things about this format, is that it makes me want to research some of the artists from the past. Although, I anjoy that and new music, as well, not a lot of new stuff makes me want to search them out, although there are a few gems, like Silversun Pickups and Muse. Keep in mind, I was a huge Led Zep fan from 81 to about the early 90's, then got into the grunge "movement". But I still love stuff like Albert King, Buddy Guy, Steve Ray Vaughan, The Who, Stones, Alice in Chains, yada, yada, yada, as well as the above.
I had been away from listening to radio extensively for a long time, and didn't really think about it, until WBCN went off the air, then I was shocked! But, when I started listening online, it gave me a new sense of the future of the great Rock of Boston.
The rock format that is no-holds barred is a great refresh of WBCN and hope that this will continue and that the "station" can maintain this forever.
Can't wait until I can listen in my car, instead of JUST online. Then I can hear what the other DJ's are putting on.
Good luck!!

Stream HD3 on your MySpace page, put the following code into your profile and FFBCN will play constantly, remember to cancel your MySpace music so they don't clash.
See how it looks and sounds first on my cars MySpace page.
